Sweepstakes begins on Friday, October 15, 2008 at 12:00:01 a.m. ET and ends on Tuesday, January 01, 2009 at 11:59:59 p.m. ET.  Eligible participants is anyone that refers another purchasing customer to www.MADShears.com or to brother site www.DrScissorhands.com.

To enter have the customer referral put your name in the "special instructions" box if purchasing online.  If purchase is made via our customer service line (336-510-9278) referred customer should provide your name at that time.  If you have referred a customer but are not sure if they submitted your name to our contest, you may request in writing that your name be added as the referrer. Your referral will be verified before an entry to this contest is made.

To enter without signing up for our e-newsletter, send your full name, street address (no P.O. boxes accepted), city, state, zip, telephone number and age hand written on a 3 x 5 card with the name of the customer/s you have referred to MADShears or DrScissorhands, in a #10 business envelope with first class stamp affixed to: 'Referral Contest', 324 Turner Road, Lexington, NC 27292. Only one entry per envelope accepted. We are Not responsible for late, lost, misdirected, mutilated or illegible entries or entries not received in time for the drawing. No mechanically reproduced entries permitted. To be entered into the Referral Sweepstakes, mail-in entries must be postmarked by December 31, 2008. No Limits apply to the number of entries one person can make.  All referrals will be verified before an entry is made by MADShears.

Three winners will be selected by the number of purchasing customers referred. Odds of winning depend upon the total number of eligible entries. All drawings will be conducted by MADShears or DrScissorhands, whose decisions are final on all matters relating to this Sweepstakes. No prize substitution is permitted except as specifically described in these rules. Winners will be notified by phone or email. If a winner cannot be notified for any reason beyond the control of MADShears or DrScissorhands, his or her prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner.

First place ($100.00 Gift Certificate) will be awarded to the individual with the most customer referrals.  In case of a tie for the First Place award, the winner will be determined by random drawing and the other entrant will be awarded the second place prize.

Second place prize ($50.00 Gift Certificate) will be awarded to the individual with the second most customer referrals or in the case of a tie for the first place prize, drawn randomly between the tied contestants.  In case of a tie for the Second Place award, the winner will be determined by random drawing and the other entrant will be awarded the third prize.

Third place ($25.00 Gift Certificate) will be awarded to the individual with the third most customer referrals, or in the event of a tie for second place, randomly drawn between the tied contestants.  In case of a tie for the Third Place award, the winner will be determined by random drawing. Only one first place, one second place, and one third place prize will be awarded.

PRIZES AND APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUES: On January 05, 2009 (1) One gift card redeemable at MADShears or DrScissorhands, valued at $100.00 ( retail value: $100.00 excluding shipping and handling). (1) One gift card redeemable at MADShears or DrScissorhands, valued at $50.00 ( retail value: $50.00 excluding shipping and handling) and (1) One gift card redeemable at MADShears or DrScissorhands, valued at $25.00 ( retail value: $25.00 excluding shipping and handling) A total of three (3) Gift Cards Will be awarded during the promotion period for a total of $175.00 in Prizes. Prizes consist solely of those items specifically listed, and may not be substituted, transferred or redeemed for cash. Upon their presentation or delivery to winners, gift cards, which can be used the same as cash, become the sole property and responsibility of the recipients and will not be replaced by MADShears or DrScissorhands if they are lost or stolen.

ELIGIBILITY: These Sweepstakes are open to residents of the United States and its Territories who are 18 years of age or older as of Novemember  15, 2008. Employees of MADShears or DrScissorhands, and its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, and such employees' immediate family members and/or persons living in the same household are not eligible. Void where prohibited by law. Limit one prize per person.

LIABILITY AND RELEASE: All federal, state, and local laws apply. By accepting a prize, each winner agrees to hold MADShears or DrScissorhands, its subsidiaries and affiliates, and their respective directors, officers, employees, and assigns, harmless against any and all claims and liability arising out of acceptance, use, or misuse of the prize, and against any and all liabilities arising in whole or in part from participation in these Sweepstakes. Each winner assumes all liability for any injury or damage caused, or claimed to be caused, by participation in this Sweepstakes or acceptance, use, or misuse of any prize. By participating in this promotion, entrants agree to be bound by the Official Rules and the decisions of the judges. MADShears and DrScissorhands and its agents are not responsible for any typographical or other errors in the printing of the Official Rules, administration of the Sweepstakes, or announcement of prizes. All federal, state, and local taxes are the sole responsibility of each winner.

AFFIDAVIT OF ELIGIBILITY AND RELEASE: Each potential winner may be asked to execute an Affidavit of Eligibility/Release of Liability/Prize Acceptance Form within seven (7) days of attempted notification. Failure to return the affidavit and release within this time period may result in disqualification of a potential winner, and an alternate winner may be selected. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission to Sponsor and its agents to use each winner's name, photo, voice, biographical information, and likeness for purposes of advertising and trade without further compensation, unless prohibited by law.
