 6/11/08 Have You Tested Your Shear Sharpness Lately? 

How Sharp are You?  That is a loaded question.  Did you know that your dull hair cutting shears don't cut cleanly and can actually damage your client's hair?  And for you MAD Groomers, why work harder than you already do? Try these test to evaluate your shear sharpness: Can you cut a wet facial tissue with your shears? Do they cut from the tip to the ride line (where your blades meet at the screw)? Do they chew that Kleenex or pull at it, ripping it?  Another way to check; dangle a piece of thread WITHOUT keeping it taunt and try cutting it.  Start from the pivot of your shears (where the screw joins the blades' of your shears) and cut the thread numerous times, going down your blades, This way you test your blades from the top, to middle and all the way to your tips!  Your shears should cut in all areas on your blades.  If your shears snag the thread, or if they fold the thread, it is time to get out those back-up shears out and send the dull ones to your Sharpener! Your shears are an investment!  6/2/08 Davidson Community College, We Will Be There on the June 9, 2008 & You Are Invited

 

We were scheduled to meet all the up and coming hair artist and Diva Making Instructors at Davidson Community College on 6/2/08 but we were cancelled, and we have never been happier to be cancelled!  Why you may ask?  DCC canceled us for a truly warm, fuzzy, community service reason and we would just like to give them Kudos!  Students from Lexington Middle School invaded DCC for a behind the scenes look at the world of cosmetology.  What a great thing! The middle schoolers got to shadow students and instructors, and were even pampered with FREE hair cuts, styling, and manicures!  What a great way to show the youth today that you DO need to stay in school and how they can reap the rewards of a higher education.  Kudos to DCC! Oh Yea, if you are in the area and want to come for our FREE class, you are invited. 3/29/08 One of MADShears Staff Members Spent A Cold & Rainy Night Camping Out in Winston-Salem, NC to Become a Contestant on "Deal or No Deal" and He Made It to the Second Pick!

It was a rough, cold and rainy night for one of our MADShears staff members, as he camped out in Winston-Salem NC, to get a 20 Second Chance to make a lasting impression and be cast on  "Deal or No Deal" NBC's Hit Gameshow Hosted by Howie Mandell, He Made it Through the First Round, despite being sleepless, exhausted, cold, wet, and hungry, Unfortunately, he didn't make the second cut, and we attribute this to plain old exhaustion, frozen wet feet, and just feeling miserable, Afterall, it is a little difficult to appear bouncy and upbeat when you haven't slept in over 24 hours!  Oh Well, he gave it his all, maybe after a well deserved 12 hours of sleep, he will muster on!  Never say never, and never give up, is one of our mottos and we know he won't! Good going Richard! We are all proud of you and love you!
